We’re just starting the second decade of the 21st Century and life isn’t getting any slower. Through a series of government and other initiatives, court cases and general awareness we’re becoming more and more aware of what happens when stress, particularly thanks to work, is ignored or left unchecked, and of the importance of taking a balanced approach to life.
We only use the term ‘work-life’ balance here because it’s something most people are familar with. However, we believe that it’s a bit of a misnomer – it creates the impression that work is something other than living. We don’t agree with that at all – frankly if you don’t generally enjoy your work then there’s an issue that needs dealing with. Not that we should enjoy all of our work all of the time of course (just imagine what life would be like if you did..!).
We’ve devised a ‘Calm’ approach to stress management. This is NOT a conventional approach – those normally focus on environmental factors. Our approach focuses on the person, their approach to the world and their response to it. And we know it works – it was put together and trialled during a reorganisation in a large multinational company. The results for some were nothing short of miraculous.
